My career as a helicopter mechanic began with four years in the US. Navy. Attention to to detail and communicating effectively were essential. Initially, I learned, if you’re not early your late. Furthermore, as a mechanic every nut , bolt and screw had to be accounted for. The engine of an aircraft cannot afford displaced hardware when its time to fly. It was important I understood how to do my job. Good communication was vital. Maintaining communication between shifts required daily inspection logs for the aircraft. Example forms include, Ready for Flight or Discrepancies Found. In addition, I logged flight hours and who the pilot and co/pilot were for the mission. Furthermore, HSL46 loaded missiles onto the aircraft. This involved step by step verbal instruction, coordination of five servicemen to load the missiles, and one instructor. These are just a few examples of ways I communicated while in the military.
