Assignment 1
How I Communicate
It is important everyone communicates effectively. We have to communicate with one another on a daily basis. Poor communication skills can hinder your job, personal life, and people you come into contact with every day. What does it mean to communicate? Answer, communication is imparting or exchanging information or news.
My career as a helicopter mechanic began with four years in the US. Navy. Attention to to detail and communicating effectively were essential. Initially, I learned, if you’re not early your late. Furthermore, as a mechanic every nut , bolt and screw had to be accounted for. The engine of an aircraft cannot afford displaced hardware when its time to fly. It was important I understood how to do my job. Good communication was vital. Maintaining communication between shifts required daily inspection logs for the aircraft. Example forms include, Ready for Flight or Discrepancies Found. In addition, I logged flight hours and who the pilot and co/pilot were for the mission. Furthermore, HSL46 loaded missiles onto the aircraft. This involved step by step verbal instruction, coordination of five servicemen to load the missiles, and one instructor. These are just a few examples of ways I communicated while in the military.
In closing, we all communicate. Some methods are more effective than others. It depends on the persons involved. You can communicate verbally, by writing, or by body language. It is apparent, if you want to succeed, one needs to posses excellent communication skills.
I love how communication also tied in with time to you, Justin! So many people take that for granted in EVERYTHING, not just work. Time is money, respect, etc...so it definitely communicates something if you are late to work/class everyday. I'll enjoy your military/ flight perspective as well. Please share in class or more on the blog.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you let us know what pages were helpful while you were writing your rough draft of essay #1 and how it is going, along with your perspective on tattoos before Thursday!
And make your blog unique. Think of hobbies, something about yourself that makes YOU YOU...and make your blog show that aspect of you off :) Be sure to check out (add all) and comment on a couple of other students' blogs as you are posting before next Thursday.
