Le Temps Viendra Ch.
9-12
Chapter 9: In the beginning
of chapter nine Ann sits with the Duke of Suffolk and Norfolk. They ask Ann to
assist them in destroying Wolsey. Ann
Agrees, and pledges her alliance to the cause. Ann, Mary and Nan then head to
the Richmond Palace, where they see two heads impaled by a pole.
Chapter 10: In
chapter ten Ann gets into an altercation with Wolsey. It is implied that Ann is
nothing more than a whore. Ann then
proceeds to embarrass Wolsey, making him flush. Ann proceeds to King Henry’s chambers,
where they learn that the pope has yet to approve the annulment.
Chapter 11: Ann and
her party then travel to Greenwich to celebrate the king’s investiture. While
walking, Ann stumbles upon eleven year old Katherine, who is King Henry’s
future wife. Ann talks to her brother
George, expressing her distress and anger towards the Queen. They then decide to leave the castle and go
on a horse ride. When to return to the castle their father reprimands them for
not being to the Kings investiture. The
chapter ends with a masque, with Henry and Ann dancing in the queens presence.
Chapter 12: Chapter
twelve is a rather short. Ann thinks it
would be best if she returned home. She believes the gossip and rumors will die
down if she is not around the King. Ann
Chooses Nan Mary and Joan to accompany her. At the end of the chapter Ann’s
mother gives her a banned book called The First English Translation of the New
Testament.
